Artist Statement

I had a bunch of unused blocks that paired a dull black with Necco-wafer colored rectangles. Cutting them up further revealed this happy design that reminds me of the classic “Good and Plenty” candy boxes. Adding in a few scattered blocks in a rich black added dimension. A combination of hand stitching and machine quilting brings in texture and subtle movement.
