Artist Statement

I had a bunch of unused blocks that paired a dull black with pastel yellow, pink, blue, and green rectangles.

Cutting them up further revealed this happy design that reminds me of the classic “Good ‘n’ Fruity” candy boxes. Did you know that in the 1970s commercial the jingle was written and performed by Carly Simon? And the art in the commercial was by Peter Max? Wow. Being a child of 70s, this must have been lodged deep in my brain, waiting to emerge 50 years later.
