Artist Statement

Jet black bowl-cut with fire-engine-red lipstick and matching red scarf. A massive handlebar mustache in a muted blue sweater. Cheek to cheek, smiling, against a soft green wall.

Together for more than 60 years, my in-laws (who I called Mom and Dad) built their life piece by piece, year by year. Steady. Stable. Traditional without being boring.

Not all portraits need be figurative.
