Artist Statement

Not all portraits are figurative. Some just recall a striking visual memory—here, of bright red lipstick and matching cowl-neck scarf, jet-black hair in an 80s bowl-cut, a handlebar mustache curving up slightly at the tips, and two muted blue sweaters against a soft green wall.
