Artist Statement
This quilt began with cataract-compromised vision, made in a muted palette of pinks, yellows, and grays. A physical manifestation of the a murky haze that obscured my sight. Fractured half-square triangles create a blurry sparkle, mirroring what I saw with uncorrected myopia.
Post-surgery now, the world is full of intense crisp details and colors — who knew there were so many leaves on trees or that you can tell individual crows apart by their beaks and feathers?
(Gray + Pink = Grink; Gray + Yellow = Grello)
