Artist Statement
This is the third in a series of modular quilts built using the same basic building blocks. Like siblings, all the quilts in the series share the same DNA, yet each has its own unique expression.
We spent the summer of 2001 in Colorado, in a small hamlet called Woody Creek, when my husband worked at the Aspen Music Festival. We were “up valley” and had the long view of the 14,000 foot peaks that surround the area. One day we hiked up to the top of one of these and encountered a lake that was glacial green. The colors and jagged edges of this quilt capture the feeling of that summer.
The first in the series is Lucca, Recycled
The second in the series is Pink House at Plum Island.
