Artist Statement

This is the third in a series of modular quilts built using the same basic building blocks. Like siblings, all the quilts in the series share the same DNA, yet each has its own unique expression.

Inspired by specific memories about a geographical location, this one is about the summer we spent in Woody Creek, Colorado, when my husband worked at the Aspen Music Festival. Our place had a long view ‘down valley’ of the 14,000-foot peaks that surround the area. Blue skies, glacial lakes, and rugged mountains telescoping towards the center, the elevation often made me dizzy.
